Could you be a Mission Innovation Champion? #MIChampions is a new recognition programme launched by Mission Innovation (a global initiative of 23 countries and the European Union) to support individuals who are accelerating the clean energy revolution, and is currently accepting applications. This programme will recognise exceptional researchers and innovators who are developing novel ways of making energy cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable and using it more efficiently.
It would be excellent to ensure Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) representation in this programme, but – being a technology focussed programme – this is by no means guaranteed. Thus we would very much encourage energy-SSH researchers and practitioners to apply.
Mission Innovation Champions could be working in government/policy, universities, research organisations, or their own companies.
Participating countries from which there will be one champion each: Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates.
One Champion will also be selected to represent the European Commission from: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain (non Mission Innovation members).
Being an MI Champion will bring visibility and connections through the programme. Additionally, everyone who submits a valid application will receive scores and comments from five other participants and may also receive feedback from an expert Evaluation Panel. The program was launched at the Third Mission Innovation Ministerial on 22-23 May 2018 at Malmö and the Champions will be introduced at the Fourth Mission Innovation Ministerial meeting in Vancouver in 2019.
